Turkish Airlines Orders 225 Boeing Aircraft
In a strategic move to support its ambitious growth plans, Turkish Airlines has announced an order with Boeing for a substantial number of new aircraft. The flag carrier of Türkiye plans to acquire up to 75 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, alongside 150 single-aisle 737 Max airliners.
Details of the Order
- The Dreamliner order includes firm commitments for 787-9 and 787-10 models with 25 purchase options.
- Turkish Airlines is currently negotiating with Rolls-Royce and General Electric to decide on the engine manufacturer for the Dreamliner fleet.
- The 737 Max order involves 100 firm commitments and 50 options, targeting the -8 and -10 variants.
- This order awaits completion of discussions with CFM regarding the power plant.
Strategic Growth and Vision 2033
Prof. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines, emphasized that this order is pivotal not only for expanding the airline’s fleet but also for its wider aspirations.
He remarked, “This landmark agreement is a testament to our industry leadership and commitment to innovation. These advanced Boeing aircraft will enhance our operational capabilities and support our ‘Vision 2033’ to grow our fleet to 800 aircraft.”

Expanding Fleet and Enhancing Operations
Under its Vision 2033 plan, which coincides with Turkish Airlines’ centenary, the airline intends to transition over 90% of its fleet to Next Generation aircraft by 2033, reaching complete transition by 2035. The addition of the 787 Dreamliners will boost long-haul capabilities, while the 737 Max models will provide efficiency and versatility on shorter routes.
