Southwest Airlines' Fleet Renewal: Phasing Out Older Boeing 737 NGs

Southwest Airlines plans to reduce and ultimately retire its Boeing 737 NG fleet by 2031, transitioning to the more fuel-efficient 737 MAX series. The move aims to lower operating costs and modernize the fleet in line with sustainability goals. As demand for narrowbody aircraft increases, the sale of older 737 NGs becomes a viable strategic option for the airline.

Delta Air Lines A330

Delta Air Lines, the second-largest US airline by fleet size, boasts a significant widebody presence with the Airbus A330 family. The A330 series, led by the A330neo, plays a vital role in Delta’s operations with multiple configurations across its three variants. Complementing the A330s, Delta also operates Boeing 767s and Airbus A350s, although plans are in place to retire older 767 models by 2030.

Korean Air B747

Long-term operations of the 747-8 by Korean Air have diminished, with remaining flights mostly to major locations like Los Angeles, due to fleet downsizing and strategic company shifts.
