    Introduction

Joby Aviation and Uber have announced their plans to integrate Blade’s air mobility services into the Uber app by 2026. This development follows Joby’s acquisition of Blade’s passenger business in August 2025, representing a major advancement in urban air travel accessibility in bustling cities across the globe.

    Blade’s Current Operations

In 2024, Blade successfully transported over 50,000 passengers, connecting major airports like Newark and JFK with Manhattan, as well as seasonal locations such as the Hamptons. The acquisition grants Joby the opportunity to utilize Blade’s established network and infrastructure, expediting the introduction of its electric air taxi service to international markets including Dubai, Los Angeles, the United Kingdom, and Japan.

    Joby’s Electric Air Taxi

The electric air taxi developed by Joby is designed to carry four passengers and one pilot, reaching speeds of up to 200 mph. This innovative aircraft promises a quieter and more environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional helicopters, boasting an acoustic footprint 100 times lower and producing zero emissions. The integration with the Uber app will allow travelers to conveniently book both air and ground transportation, thereby streamlining travel in congested urban areas.

    Statements from Company Executives

“We’re thrilled to introduce Uber customers to seamless urban air travel,” stated JoeBen Bevirt, CEO of Joby Aviation. “By incorporating Blade into the Uber app, we solidify our global partnership with Uber and lay the groundwork for launching our quiet, zero-emissions aircraft in the future.”

    Uber’s Vision

Uber executives emphasized the significance of this partnership, noting that advanced air mobility has long been part of the company’s vision. The collaboration with Joby, which absorbed Uber’s Elevate division in 2021, reinforces Uber’s commitment to providing safe, sustainable, and scalable air travel in urban settings worldwide.

    Future of Air Mobility

Following the integration, Blade passengers will be able to book flights directly via the Uber app, revolutionizing the connectivity between urban centers and airports. With Joby’s air taxi technology nearing commercial readiness, this partnership situates both companies at the forefront of the evolving urban mobility landscape.
