Etihad Airways is making waves in the aviation industry with the reintroduction of its seasonal service to the exotic archipelago of Zanzibar. Starting from June 14 through September 6, 2026, the airline will operate four flights a week from Abu Dhabi to Zanzibar using its Airbus A320, configured with two classes of service. This is part of Etihad’s ambitious expansion strategy, further cementing its position as a major player in global airline networks.

    New Horizons for Travelers

Zanzibar, mesmerizing with its spice plantations, pristine beaches, and the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Stone Town, will now be more accessible to travelers from Europe and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. With Etihad’s enhanced European network, passengers can enjoy seamless connectivity, facilitating a smoother journey to this African paradise.

    A Message from the Top

Etihad’s CEO, Antonoaldo Neves, expressed his excitement, stating, “Zanzibar is the perfect summer escape, and we are thrilled to welcome it back to our growing network.” Neves emphasized that this destination has been eagerly anticipated by the airline’s guests.

    Strategic Expansion and Connectivity

Adding Zanzibar to its roster marks Etihad’s 30th newly announced destination for 2025. This move is not only about offering more travel options but also about reinforcing Abu Dhabi as a hub for both Mediterranean and Indian Ocean leisure travel. The airline’s summer schedule is further enhanced by other popular destinations such as Palma de Mallorca, indicating a strategic push to connect different regions and cultures.

    • Service available from June 14 to September 6, 2026.
    • Enhanced connectivity for travelers from Europe and GCC.

    Why Zanzibar?

Not just a tourist hotspot, Zanzibar serves as a crucial entry point to East Africa’s famed safari adventures. This makes it a strategic location for Etihad, tapping into both the luxury vacation market and adventure tourism, expanding its reach to diverse traveler profiles.
