Emirates Expands Premium Economy Availability at JFK Airport
By the end of the year, Emirates will enhance its service at New York’s JFK Airport by including premium economy cabins on all of its Airbus A380 flights. Presently, only one of the three daily rotations is equipped with this advanced seating option.
Implementation Timeline for Premium Economy Seating
The addition of premium economy seats to more flights between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and New York JFK aims to offer varying classes of travel. Currently, the rotations (EK203/204) include premium economy, but starting November 10, this feature will be available on flights EK205/206 that travel from Dubai to JFK via Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP). The remaining direct rotation EK201/202 will introduce premium seating on December 1.
“These additions will expand Emirates’ network of destinations offering Premium Economy on its fleet of A380s, 777s, and A350 aircraft to 68 global points by March 2026, underscoring the airline’s commitment to investing in the very best customer experience in the sky and adding more premium cabin options, consistency, and choice across geographies.”
Impact on Italian Travelers
The introduction of premium economy on flights stopping at Milan Malpensa also provides advantages for Emirates’ Italian customers. This change means that along with rotations EK091/092, there are now two daily flights with premium economy connecting Milan and Dubai.
Notably, the Milan to New York JFK segment of flight EK205/206 is a fifth-freedom flight, which passengers can book independently. This service has been operational since 2013, making it one of Emirates’ long-standing fifth-freedom routes.

Global Deployment and Layout of Premium Economy
Emirates is not limiting its four-class A380 deployments to North America and Europe. Destinations like Sydney, Singapore, Osaka, Mumbai, and Bangalore are also on the list of routes served. On the Airbus A380s, the premium economy cabin includes 56 seats configured in 2-4-2 layout, offering comfortable 40-inch pitch and 19.5-inch width.
Passenger Amenities
The premium economy experience on the A380s includes increased recline—eight inches compared to four in economy—and advanced entertainment systems featuring 13.3-inch screens alongside universal AC, USB-A, and USB-C charging ports.
