Introduction of Airbus A350 by Emirates to Hangzhou

Dubai, UAE-based Emirates Airline will commence daily flights with its Airbus A350 to Hangzhou Xiao Shan International Airport (HGH) beginning October 26, 2025. This decision follows the airline’s initial service launch to the city three months prior, showcasing Emirates’ commitment to bolstering connectivity with mainland China.

    Strategic Expansion into Mainland China

The deployment of the Airbus A350 to Hangzhou signifies a strategic step in Emirates’ ongoing expansion in mainland China. Over the last year, Emirates has introduced new destinations and upgraded its aircraft to meet the increasing demand for travel between the regions. According to Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates, the inclusion of the A350 aligns with the airline’s mission to bring its most advanced fleet and onboard amenities to China’s airspace.

    • Flight EK310 departs Dubai International Airport (DXB) at 04:15 and arrives in Hangzhou at 16:00.
    • Return flight EK311 leaves Hangzhou at 00:10 and arrives back in Dubai at 06:10.

The Airbus A350 is notable as the first new aircraft type added to Emirates’ fleet since 2008, enhancing its existing operations with Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 aircraft in China. The new aircraft is designed with an emphasis on passenger comfort, featuring wider aisles, higher ceilings, and advanced in-flight entertainment across all classes.

On this route, Emirates will introduce its Premium Economy class. This service bridges the gap between Economy and Business classes by including features often found in business class offerings. Passengers will benefit from leather reclining seats with full leg rests, personal charging points, 13.3-inch screens, upgraded dining options—including sparkling wine—and additional comfort items such as large pillows, blankets, and amenity kits.

The aircraft’s layout ensures a consistent and elevated travel experience for passengers across all classes, reflecting Emirates’ investment in product quality and customer satisfaction.

    Discovering Hangzhou

Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province, is one of China’s most popular destinations, celebrated for its historic appeal and natural splendor. With over 10 million residents, the city offers a blend of modern growth and ancient heritage, with old town streets, historic temples, and picturesque lakeside landscapes. West Lake, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the city’s most renowned attraction, encircled by pagodas, gardens, and tea fields.

    Cultural and Natural Attractions

Visitors can experience West Lake by strolling along its willow-lined paths, cycling the scenic loop, or taking a traditional boat to see the Three Pools Mirroring the Moon. The area also includes Taiziwan Park, notable for its seasonal blossoms, and historic sites such as Baochu and Leifeng pagodas.

For a deeper cultural immersion, Lingyin Temple and the surrounding Fei Lai Feng with its ancient stone carvings provide a spiritual and artistic ambiance. Hefang Street offers a glimpse into historic Hangzhou with traditional shops and local delicacies.

    Transport and Accessibility

Hangzhou is easily accessible due to its extensive transportation network:

    • By Train: High-speed rail connects Hangzhou to major cities like Shanghai and Beijing, with most routes ending at Hangzhou East Railway Station.
    • By Plane: Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport (HGH) offers various domestic and international flights, situated 30 km from downtown.
    • By Bus: Regional buses provide budget-friendly travel to nearby towns.

Once in Hangzhou, the modern metro system links key locations, and cycling, particularly around West Lake, remains popular for exploring the city.
