Flight Diversion Due to Medical Emergency

On September 10, 2025, an Emirates Airline flight from Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD) to Dubai International Airport (DXB) diverted to Perth Airport (PER) due to a medical emergency. Emirates operates three daily flights on this route using Airbus A380 aircrafts.

    Details of Flight EK413

    • Flight EK413 departed from Sydney Airport at 12:38 UTC.
    • After over four hours of flight, a medical issue was reported by the cabin crew, leading to the diversion.
    • The aircraft landed safely at Perth Airport at 17:34 UTC.
    • Emirates updated passengers on its website, informing them of re-booking arrangements for connecting flights.

The flight was conducted by a 9-year-old Airbus A380-841, with the registration A6-EUJ. After addressing the emergency, the aircraft resumed its journey from Perth at 20:09 UTC and arrived in Dubai at 6:29 UTC, about five hours later than the scheduled time.

    Similar Past Incident

On January 24, 2025, Emirates flight EK342, also an Airbus A380, diverted to Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) due to a medical emergency. The incident occurred during a flight from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Kuala Lumpur (KUL).

    • Flight EK342 departed Dubai at 11:27 AM GST, slightly behind its scheduled time.
    • The A380 reached cruising altitude before a medical emergency prompted a diversion.
    • The aircraft safely landed at Bengaluru (BLR) 25 minutes after the emergency declaration, at 4:22 PM IST.

Emirates is known for its robust safety and passenger care protocols, executing medical diversions efficiently to ensure passenger safety and health.
