Delta Partners with YouTube for Enhanced In-Flight Entertainment

Delta Air Lines has partnered with YouTube to offer a new dimension to in-flight entertainment. This Atlanta-based carrier will now provide passengers with ad-free access to an extensive catalog of YouTube videos, podcasts, and music on flights with in-flight WiFi.

    Comprehensive Access on Delta Flights

Starting from October 1, Delta SkyMiles members are offered up to 14 days of free YouTube Premium following a Delta flight, with no payment details required. The announcement, made at the CES 2025 in Las Vegas, highlights the collaboration between one of the world’s largest airlines and the prominent video-sharing platform. Passengers can enjoy a vast array of content via the Delta app on personal devices or the seat-back screens enabled with Sync WiFi and T-Mobile services. Julieta McCurry, Delta’s VP of In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity, stated in a press release:

“This partnership was born from a simple but powerful insight: our customers love YouTube.”

    Extensive Onboard Content

Delta’s integration of YouTube will enhance the already expansive seatback entertainment system, boasting over 165,000 screens across more than 930 aircraft. The initiative aims to elevate the customer experience by offering personalized content tailored to passenger preferences, enabled by advanced recommendation engines.

    Advancements in Onboard Technology

The Delta Sync system is the first globally available cloud-based in-flight entertainment infrastructure, offering high-quality 4K HDR QLED screens with Bluetooth capabilities. The 96-terabyte cloud system surpasses the typical in-flight systems by offering more than 50 times the average capacity, ensuring uninterrupted access to a broad selection of entertainment options.
