HOUSTON – Avelo Airlines (XP) has confirmed an order for 50 Embraer (ERJ) E195-E2 aircraft, with purchase rights for an additional 50. Deliveries are set to commence in the first half of 2027, enhancing the airline’s mission to offer affordable and convenient air travel throughout the United States.

This US$4.4 billion order, based on list prices and excluding purchase rights, positions Avelo as the first U.S. airline to operate the E195-E2. These new aircraft will complement Avelo’s current fleet of Boeing 737NGs, adding efficiency and flexibility to its operations.

    Avelo Orders Embraer E195-E2

The Embraer E195-E2 is the largest and most sophisticated jet in Embraer’s commercial range. Adding this aircraft bolsters Avelo’s growth strategy and provides Embraer with a significant entry into the U.S. market.

The E2’s standout feature, the Enhanced Takeoff System (E2TS), is a proprietary technology that improves short-field capabilities. This allows Avelo to access airports with shorter runways and enhance operations at various existing destinations. The E2’s long range, fuel efficiency, and reduced noise also support Avelo’s expansion into both established and emerging markets.

    Fleet Growth and Customer Experience

The inclusion of the E195-E2 will modernize Avelo’s fleet by providing a balance between capacity and operational economics. The aircraft features a 2×2 seating arrangement with no middle seats, larger overhead bins, in-seat power, and a quieter cabin environment, all aimed at improving passenger experience.

These customer-centric features complement Avelo’s commitment to providing budget-friendly fares with a pleasant travel experience. Additionally, the jet offers improved economic performance through lower fuel consumption, optimized maintenance, and the right capacity to meet demand in less-serviced markets. This positions Avelo to expand its network economically while maintaining competitive cost structures.

    Executive Remarks

Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy emphasized the strategic benefits of the new jets, noting that the E2’s size and capabilities are well-suited for expanding within the U.S. market. He highlighted that passengers will value both the comfort and financial advantages provided by these aircraft as Avelo’s network grows.

Embraer Commercial Aviation President and CEO Arjan Meijer described the E195-E2 as a “game-changer,” highlighting its fuel efficiency, quiet operations, and ability to operate from short fields. He remarked that Avelo’s choice to adopt the aircraft demonstrates confidence in the E2 program and its potential to unlock new opportunities.
