Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines Lounge Enhancements
Alaska Air Group, the parent company of Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, is investing significantly in upgrading its airport lounges following its merger with Hawaiian Airlines. This initiative is aimed at establishing Seattle Airport (SEA) as a key transpacific hub, focusing on Boeing 787 routes.
Alaska Airlines Launches New Lounges
- Alaska Air Group is expanding its lounge network with the integration of Hawaiian Airlines into its operations by 2025.
- As of now, there are 9 Alaska Lounges located in 6 airports: Anchorage (ANC), Los Angeles (LAX), New York JFK (JFK), Portland (PDX), San Francisco (SFO), and Seattle (SEA).
- Hawaiian Airlines maintains the Plumeria Lounge at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL).
These developments target premium passengers on long-haul flights, aligning with plans for 12 new transpacific routes from Seattle by 2030. The lounges will integrate Alaska’s efficient design with Hawaiian’s island hospitality, catering to customers of both airlines. Honolulu’s construction uses existing Hawaiian infrastructure, while San Diego’s build is set to begin in early 2027 to accommodate its significant nonstop routes.
Seattle’s main focus will be on international departures, possibly linking with the C Concourse expansion. The access policies are evolving post-merger, and Alaska Lounge members can now access the Plumeria Lounge at HNL. By October 1, 2025, HawaiianMiles will integrate into Atmos Rewards, facilitating reciprocal lounge benefits.
Honolulu Premium Lounge
In late 2027, Hawaiian Airlines will inaugurate a new premium lounge at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL). This 15,000 square foot space near the Mauka Concourse in Terminal 1 is significantly larger than the existing Plumeria Lounge. The design features natural light, local art, and wellness zones providing island-inspired cuisine and relaxing spaces. It will service both Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines passengers under unified branding.
This lounge supports increased A330 operations between Honolulu and Seattle, increasing seat capacity by 20% on selected routes. The project builds on Hawaiian’s prior investments, aiming for guest satisfaction scores 20 points above industry averages. Meanwhile, Alaska Airlines has recently renovated its D Concourse Lounge in Seattle, reopening it on June 21.
Seattle Flagship International Lounge
Alaska Airlines is set to open a flagship international lounge at Seattle (SEA) in 2027. This new facility will be larger than the existing 16,000 square foot North Satellite lounge and will cater to long-haul passengers. New routes include Seattle to Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT) starting May 2025 and Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN) in October 2025.
The lounge is expected to integrate “Atmos” branding in line with a loyalty program rebrand. It will offer premium amenities comparable to Delta One or United Polaris Lounges, such as private suites, and chef-curated meals. The lounge will target first-class and elite members on international flights and integrate with the C Concourse expansion at SEA.
San Diego Lounge
Alaska Airlines plans to build a new lounge at San Diego International Airport (SAN), commencing in early 2027 with anticipated completion by 2028. At 13,000 square feet, it will surpass the current Aspire Lounge in Terminal 2, serving 45 nonstop destinations. The amenities will include modern seating, local craft beers, and Bay Area-inspired buffets, apart from offering views of the runway and Pacific Ocean.
This facility emphasizes Alaska’s dedication to its West Coast presence, complementing its operations at Portland International Airport (PDX) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
Future Outlook
These investments enhance Alaska Air Group’s premium offerings and unify access via Atmos Rewards, facilitating travel through oneworld partners. Although approval processes could cause delays, current timelines remain on track. The airline group encourages passengers to book early for 2025 Asia routes to experience the improved Seattle lounge facilities.
