In his Tampines home, Mr. Ng still reflects the image of a seasoned steward. At 67, his polished demeanor and professional habits remain unchanged, with neatly slicked hair and the courteous language that defined his 46-year career.
For Mr. Ng, his role at Singapore Airlines was more than just employment; it was his calling. “I never thought of leaving the airline, because this has been my life,” he stated, surrounded by a collection of meticulously kept flight schedules that tell the story of countless journeys.

Training, which lasted only two months compared to today’s longer programs, transformed his life. His first assignment was a flight to Perth aboard a Boeing 707, which he fondly remembers, despite a humorous run-in with Australian immigration.
