    Introduction

Bristol-based defense technology company MARSS has announced the successful completion of flight testing for its latest medium-range counter-drone system, the INTERCEPTOR-MR, in the UK.

    System Overview

The INTERCEPTOR-MR is an AI-enabled system integrated with the C4I NiDAR platform and controlled by autonomous NiDAR EDGE software. Recent upgrades to its hardware and targeting algorithms enhance the system’s maturity and accuracy.

    Key Features

    • Engages drones beyond 5km.
    • Contains no explosives or fuel, offering a safe operation for military and civilian use.
    • Capable of recovery and redeployment through base return or parachute recovery.

    Industry Context

The advancement in drone warfare necessitates cost-effective and safe ‘hard-kill’ solutions as traditional ‘soft-kill’ methods like jamming face challenges against fiber-optic guided threats.

    Global Interest and Expansion

International interest in the INTERCEPTOR-MR has grown, highlighted by selection for evaluation by a NATO member state later this year. MARSS is working with existing customers to customize the technology to protect critical infrastructure and national assets.

    Company Growth

    • UK workforce increased by 50% recently, with plans to double by mid-2026.
    • Full production slated for 2026.
    • Design, development, and potential production for European clients to remain in the UK.

    Future Plans

Prospective customer discussions are ongoing in the Middle East, Asia Pacific, North America, and across NATO. Evaluation units are to be deployed before expected procurement contracts in 2026.

    Upcoming Showcase

MARSS will present the INTERCEPTOR-MR along with the NiDAR platform at DSEI UK 2025, scheduled for September 9-12 at the ExCeL in London.
