Satair Enhances Lifecycle Services with A319 Acquisition in Chengdu

Satair, a company under Airbus Services, has acquired an A319 airframe from the China Asset Leasing Company Limited based in Chengdu. This purchase marks a significant development in Satair’s strategy for providing end-of-life solutions for aircraft.

    Acquisition Details and Its Impact

In September 2025, Satair completed its first asset purchase for Satair Chengdu. The airframe, manufactured in 2005 and previously operated by Sichuan Airlines, was acquired from CALC (Tianjin), a subsidiary of China Aircraft Leasing Group Holdings Limited. This acquisition enhances Satair’s presence in China’s rapidly expanding aircraft lifecycle services market.

    Dismantling and Redistribution

The A319 will undergo dismantling by Airbus (Chengdu) Lifecycle Services Ltd. (ALS). High-quality used serviceable materials (USM) resulting from this process will be distributed globally via Satair and VAS Aero Services’ network, supporting efficient reuse within the aviation supply chain. ALS will also handle the removal, preservation, and storage of the aircraft’s two engines, offering CALC a complete lifecycle management package.

A Satair representative stated, “This milestone not only enhances our service offering but also underscores our commitment to delivering sustainable, efficient end-of-life solutions for the aviation industry.”

China’s Role in the Global Market

Industry experts highlight the significance of this acquisition, which underscores China’s increasing influence in the global aircraft recycling market. As the demand for sustainable aviation solutions grows, Satair is strategically positioning itself to cater to the requirements of airlines and lessors globally by integrating the dismantling, materials recovery, and engine services.

    Satair’s Strategic Positioning

By securing its first airframe in Chengdu, Satair has made a significant advancement in the lifecycle management sector. With its international distribution networks and the support of Airbus’s dedicated lifecycle unit, Satair is poised to lead the future of sustainable aviation asset management.
