Thailand Expands Air Force Capabilities with Airbus A330 MRTT+ Order
The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) has decided to enhance its operational capabilities by selecting the Airbus A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport Plus (MRTT+). This move aims to strengthen aerial refueling, medical evacuation, and transport operations.
A330 MRTT+ Features
The A330 MRTT+, derived from the Airbus A330neo, was chosen in 2026 and is scheduled for conversion into a military configuration at Airbus’s Getafe facility in Spain. The transformed aircraft will be delivered in 2029 and will come equipped with:
- Dual refueling systems
- A medical evacuation kit
- A Very Very Important Person (VVIP) cabin
This comprehensive setup marks a significant upgrade for Thailand, bolstering its defense capabilities and its ability to respond to humanitarian emergencies.

Featuring both hose-and-drogue and boom refueling systems, the A330 MRTT+ provides significant flexibility in supporting a wide range of allied military aircraft.
