Air India Achieves ‘Most Improved Airline’ Status at APEX Global EXPO

Air India has been recognized as the ‘Most Improved Airline’ at the APEX Global EXPO in Los Angeles. This accolade, paired with its Four-Star Global Airline rating, underscores the airline’s significant advancements in its transformation journey.

    Passenger-Driven Recognition

This award is notably prestigious as it is based on over one million verified passenger votes across 600 airlines, with the process independently audited for transparency and credibility.

    Transformation Initiatives

Over the past three years, Air India has executed the Vihaan.AI transformation strategy to overhaul all facets of the airline.

    • Placed a massive order for 570 new aircraft, both narrow-body and wide-body, to expand global reach.
    • Invested USD 400 million to refurbish existing aircraft, improving cabin interiors, seating, and in-flight entertainment.
    • Launched a newly designed mobile app for efficient booking and travel management.
    • Introduced gourmet in-flight dining with upgraded chinaware and glassware.
    • Rolled out premium bedding and amenity kits, aligning with international service benchmarks.

These developments have significantly reshaped customer perceptions as reflected in the APEX survey, where Air India surpassed several regional and international competitors. Its designation as a Four-Star Global Airline further elevates its status among top-rated carriers.

    Leadership and Workforce Commitment

CEO and MD Campbell Wilson attributed the award to frontline employees, acknowledging their critical role in the airline’s transformation. He noted that while the award affirms progress, maintaining consistency is crucial as the airline strives to set a global benchmark.

    Competitive Landscape

Air India’s recognition comes amidst competition from top-tier airlines like Singapore Airlines, Emirates, and Qatar Airways, which are known for superior passenger experiences. The airline’s achievement indicates a remarkable move toward bridging the premium service gap.

With extensive fleet expansion plans in place, Air India aims to rival top international carriers, focusing particularly on long-haul routes where service quality is essential.

    A Future with Indian Hospitality

Beyond service and fleet enhancements, Air India continues to prioritize hospitality rooted in Indian culture. This blend of modern aviation standards and traditional Indian warmth is poised to be a key market differentiator.

Air India’s long-term goal is to transform into a world-class airline, offering an exceptional balance of efficiency and cultural identity to its passengers.
