LATAM Airlines Expands Fleet with 74 New Embraer E195-E2 Jets

Embraer has disclosed that the LATAM Airlines Group plans to enhance its connectivity across South America by ordering up to 74 units of its advanced E195-E2 regional jets. This order consists of 24 firm orders and options for an additional 50, with deliveries set to begin next year.

    Embraer Company Details

    • Stock Code: ERJ
    • Date Founded: August 19, 1969
    • CEO: Francisco Gomes Neto
    • Headquarters: Sao Paulo, Brazil
    • Key Products: Embraer 170, 175, 190, 195, 175-E2, 190-E2, 195-E2

Starting in the second half of 2026, LATAM Airlines Brazil will receive these new regional jets. The airline is also considering deploying these jets across other subsidiaries later on. The firm orders alone have a value of $2.1 billion, underscoring LATAM’s strategic investment.

    Strengthening Operations

In a statement from Embraer, the deal highlights the LATAM Group’s commitment to strengthen its domestic and regional operations, leveraging growth achieved over the last four years. The new aircraft will serve new routes and expand options on existing ones. Since 2021, LATAM’s network has grown by 24%, from 129 to 160 destinations. LATAM CEO Roberto Alvo emphasized the importance of the E195-E2’s efficiency and versatility in continuing this growth path.

    Previous Fleet Considerations

Despite its large presence in South America, LATAM Airlines does not currently operate any Embraer commercial jets and has not done so previously. In 2025, LATAM considered both the Airbus A220 and the Embraer E2 for fleet expansion, while its fleet predominantly features Airbus narrowbody jets.

The Benefits of the Embraer E195-E2

The E195-E2 is the most favored variant in the Embraer E-Jet E2 family, with 330 orders as of mid-2025. This aircraft model boasts a competitive cost per seat, high fuel efficiency, and enhanced passenger comfort. Its four-abreast seating enhances passenger experience and offers up to 30% lower fuel consumption per seat compared to older models. This efficiency is attributed to its aerodynamic design and Pratt & Whitney GTF engines.

With advanced fly-by-wire technology, the E195-E2 represents cutting-edge regional aviation, promising a modern flying experience for LATAM customers.
