Uganda Airlines and Air India Interline Partnership Begins

Uganda Airlines (UR) and Air India have established a new interline partnership aimed at broadening travel options between Africa and India, as well as other international destinations. This agreement took effect on August 25, 2025, allowing passengers to book single-ticket journeys that seamlessly connect the networks of both airlines.

    Enhanced Connectivity

The partnership allows travelers on Uganda Airlines to connect from Entebbe International Airport (EBB) through Mumbai (BOM) to over 25 Indian cities. These include major locations like Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, and Varanasi, as well as key international centers like Bangkok, Colombo, Dhaka, London Heathrow, and Singapore.

    • Indian cities accessible include:
      • Bengaluru
      • Chennai
      • Delhi
      • Hyderabad
      • Kochi
      • Kolkata
      • Varanasi
    • International hubs include:
      • Bangkok
      • Colombo
      • Dhaka
      • London Heathrow
      • Singapore

Conversely, Air India passengers will have the option to connect through Mumbai or Dubai onto flights operated by Uganda Airlines to Entebbe. From there, they can access various destinations across Africa, including South Africa, Nigeria, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.

    Statements from Airline Executives

Jenifer Bamuturaki, CEO of Uganda Airlines, emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership by saying, “It provides our customers with a smooth, single-ticket travel experience to numerous new destinations, thereby reinforcing economic and cultural connections.”

Nipun Aggarwal, Air India’s Chief Commercial Officer, remarked, “This partnership not only offers our customers seamless access to Uganda and an expanded network across Africa but also invites Uganda Airlines’ passengers to explore the extensive routes within India and beyond offered by Air India.”
