Etihad Airways Expands European Network
Etihad Airways is set to enhance its European network significantly during the northern hemisphere summer season of 2026. The airline plans to increase its services to Dublin Airport (DUB) and Prague (PRG), thereby improving connectivity through its hub at Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH).
Dublin and Prague: Key Additions to Etihad’s Network
Starting March 29, 2026, Etihad will expand its flight operations to Dublin Airport. The current Abu Dhabi to Dublin route, which operates 10 flights weekly, will be increased to 13 flights. From April 6, this will further increase to 14 flights per week, offering passengers two daily flights using a combination of Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 787-9 aircraft. This expansion highlights Dublin’s significance to Etihad, marking 15 years of operation as of 2022.
Meanwhile, Prague is set to become another critical destination for Etihad with daily service commencing in April 2026. Initially, flight frequencies will increase from four to six weekly flights on March 29, followed by a daily service start from April 7. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will operate these flights, equipped with 28 business class and 262 economy seats, demonstrating Etihad’s commitment to central European expansion.
Fleet Strategy and Operational Adjustments
Etihad’s European expansion coincides with strategic fleet allocation for selected Asian routes. On April 2, 2026, flights EY372 and EY373 connecting Abu Dhabi to Malé will transition from the Airbus A320 to the more efficient Airbus A321LR, enhancing passenger experience. Moreover, starting April 1, services to Phuket will also integrate the A321LR, initially planned for May.
Etihad plans to operate four daily flights to Phuket by summer 2026, utilizing two Airbus A321LRs and two Boeing 787-9s, showcasing strategic deployment for capacity optimization.
Abu Dhabi: A Crucial International Hub
Through expanded capacity to major European and Asian markets, Etihad aims to bolster Abu Dhabi’s status as a significant international transit point. These enhancements are poised to boost tourism, trade, and global travel, solidifying Abu Dhabi International Airport’s (AUH) stature in the competitive Middle East aviation sector.
