American Airlines Expands Boeing 777 Operations on Domestic Routes in 2025
The US domestic aviation market ranks among the world’s most active, with several city pairs experiencing high passenger demand. To manage these volumes efficiently, airlines like American Airlines deploy widebody aircraft, using them to bolster capacity on key routes. Recently, American Airlines has enhanced this strategy by increasing the usage of its Boeing 777-200ERs and 777-300ERs on select domestic flights in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2025. According to Cirium’s data, the airline will offer 41.2% more widebody flights, translating to nearly a 40% rise in domestic capacity compared to the previous year.

The Dallas/Fort Worth–Maui route will also see increased 777 usage, transitioning from a primarily Dreamliner-operated service last year.
