France Deploys Rafale Fighter Jets to Protect Poland Amid Drone Tensions
France is set to deploy three Rafale fighter jets to assist in defending Polish airspace. This move follows allegations from Warsaw that Russia executed a drone raid within its territory.
Presidential Announcement
French President Emmanuel Macron declared on Thursday the decision to send the jets, emphasizing support for Poland’s air defense. His statement came after Russia was accused of violating Polish airspace with drones.
In a message shared on X, Macron stated, “Following Russian drone incursions into Poland, I have decided to deploy three Rafale fighter jets to help protect Polish airspace and Europe’s eastern flank alongside our NATO allies.”
International Collaboration
Macron explained that he had conveyed this commitment to the Polish prime minister a day earlier. He further mentioned discussions with the NATO Secretary General and the British Prime Minister, both focused on bolstering security along NATO’s eastern border.
The French President underscored France’s stance against Russia’s “increasing intimidation” and reaffirmed the country’s dedication to international diplomatic efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
